The main feature of a
virus is that it can replicate itself. Once installed, a
virus can :
1. Replicate itself
causing the virus to spead throughout your computer.
2. Infect and damage the
operating system software.
3. Damage the partition
sector, boot sector, and related documents and files.
Antivirus or " anti-virus " software
is a program that uses a "signature" file that contains the
characteristics of the currently know viruses. The program
then searches your hard drive and floppy disks for any known or
potential viruses. Because of Internet growth and the increasing use of
the internet by individuals and businesses, there is concern about
protecting computer assets.
A virus can enter your computer by email and downloaded pictures and
programs.
